Position Purpose
This is a full-time tenure-track, 10-month faculty appointment. The position includes responsibilities in teaching, service and scholarly activity.
Job Function
Teach 24 credit hours per year.
Job Function
Teach 6-9 credit hours per semester in general education courses including the basic public speaking course, first year seminar, learning community courses, and/or junior cornerstone courses. This position will be responsible for teaching one accelerated, web-enhanced evening course per year for Belmont's Liberal Studies (adult degree completion) program.
Job Function
Teach 3-6 credits per semester in upper-level major courses including Crisis Communication, Conflict Management, Social Networking, and/or other courses related to strategic communication to relevant stakeholders.
Job Function
Serve as faculty advisor for assigned students. Assist students in course, degree completion, and career planning.
Job Function
May be asked to start and lead a student chapter of IABC.
Job Function
Engage in activities to support the mission and vision of Belmont University, and the Department of Communication Studies.
Job Function
Engage in scholarly activity and professional development.
Job Function
Participate in departmental, college, and university service as appropriate.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Occasionally requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying and climbing, reaching both high and low. Frequently requires walking and balancing. Constantly requires sitting, repetitious finger and wrist movement, speaking clearly, hearing conversations, hearing (with acuity), seeing near and far with depth perception and color vision.

Willingness/ability to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses in the general education program and Adult Degree Completion program.
Willingness/ability to teach basic public speaking courses for general education.
Willingness/ability to teach one accelerated, web-enhanced evening course once per year.
