Department Overview
The core responsibility of the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs Central Administration is to oversee the quality of the academic programs provided by University of Phoenix. Within these departments, the Schools and Colleges have overall accountability and responsibility for curriculum and for establishing qualification criteria of faculty within their respective colleges. Academic Affairs Central Administration departments also include Institutional Research and the Office of Learning Assessment, which focus on academic issues such as student satisfaction, retention, progression and graduation.
Position Summary
This position is accountable for the overall campus management of the respective Academic Affairs College/Program(s) and ensures the quality and integrity of the college/program(s) at new and existing campuses and learning centers.
Primary Accountabilities
NOTE: The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate supervisor or manager.
1.Participates in the selection, assessment, certification, mentoring, evaluation, and training of campus faculty. May also participate in the selection, orientation, and training of campus personnel.
2.Supervises activities of Lead Faculty-Area Chairs and Lead Faculty-Instructors assigned to the College.
3.Develops and maintains the quality and integrity of the College's Programs. This position is accountable for program integrity and implementation at existing campuses, as well as new campuses and learning centers.
4.Develops and maintains strong relationships by serving as a program resource for campus staff, faculty, and students, as well as a liaison to Central Administration Academic Affairs staff and the Dean of the College.
5.Serves as a core Administrative Faculty Member teaching within the college/program curricula.
6.Monitors, reviews, and retains program-specific documents, including internship and practicum documentation when applicable.
7.Monitors and evaluates agencies to determine their effectiveness in providing students with appropriate and relevant experience. Provides recommendations for continued use of agencies. This includes initiating contacts with agencies to secure and update necessary affiliation agreements and appropriate student internship, practicum, and clinical placements as appropriate.
8.Assists Central Administration Academic Affairs personnel, including the Dean from respective college(s), in the development and review of curriculum as well as the assessment of student learning.
9.Participates in and may lead task forces and committees to represent and address academic concerns to campus management team and/or Central Administration. This may include participating in the planning, implementation, and coordination of campus and/or regional activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency.
10.Represents the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community by participating in targeted events, conferences, meetings, and workshops. This includes developing and maintaining active linkages with agencies and educational institutions to promote positive relationships and to facilitate articulation between the University's programs and those of other institutions and/or agencies.
11.Maintains a professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. This includes maintaining a general knowledge of emerging issues and trends related to the respective campus Academic Affairs program(s).
12.Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Additional Primary Accountabilities for the College of Nursing in Colorado:
13.Participates in preparing and executing the budget for the Colorado College of Nursing campus in collaboration with senior management.
14.Serves as the liaison to the Colorado Board of Nursing, with oversight from the Dean of Nursing.
15.Adheres to the Colorado Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act rules and regulations, state, and federal regulations in combination with the Dean and University's compliance departments.
16.Determines faculty teaching needs and release times for administrative duties based on program needs.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Master's or Doctorate degree required. (See program specific requirements below)
Two, three, or five years experience required. (See program specific requirements below)
Proven experience in teaching and/or administration at a regionally accredited college or university with adult education experience preferred.
Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development, and academic content area.
Must be able to demonstrate a high level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student and faculty issues and concerns.
Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with students, faculty, employees, and external parties as it relates to the management of the respective campus Academic Affairs program.
Must possess the ability to convey a professional image, as well as effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community.
College of Humanities and Sciences, College of Social Sciences
Master's degree in a liberal arts area required, however a Master's degree in higher education is acceptable as long as candidate has a strong liberal arts undergraduate degree and experience.
Two (2) years teaching experience at the college/university level required.
Must be approved to teach three (3) or more courses offered in humanities, natural sciences, or social sciences.
College of Social Sciences - with programs in Counseling and Human Services
Doctorate degree in Counselor Education or a closely related field required. Doctorate degree in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or Psychology highly preferred.
Proven experience in the practice of counseling, managing counseling agencies, or administering academic programs.
Clinical supervision experience required.
Two (2) years recent experience in adult education required.
College of Criminal Justice and Security
Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Public Administration, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, or Business Administration required.
Proven experience in criminal justice administration including law enforcement, courts, corrections, or government or corporate security.
Two (2) years recent experience in adult education required.
College of Education
Master's degree in Education required. Doctorate degree preferred.
A current educator license in the state is required.
Five (5) years combined recent working experience in P-12 education required. Preferably in a local P-12 educational district required.
Experience as a P-12 administrator is preferred OR a combination of P-12 experience and experience in higher education consisting of experience in a school or college of education, student recruitment, counseling, educational and project quality assurance counseling, and/or educational and project quality assurance.
Two (2) recent experience in adult education principles/practices, curriculum development, and academic content area preferred.
Must be approved to teach one or more courses offered by the College.
College of Information Systems and Technology
Master's degree required.
Five (5) years recent working experience in business information systems and technology required.
Must be approved to teach one or more courses offered by the College.
College of Health Science and Nursing
Master's degree in a healthcare related field required if campus does not offer a Nursing degree.
Master's degree in Nursing required if the campus offers a Nursing degree. Doctorate degree in Nursing or other health-related area preferred.
Five (5) years combined recent working experience in hospital and/or healthcare departments, or educational institutions required.
Proven experience in managing nursing departments or other managerial experience.
Active, unencumbered, unrestricted RN nursing license (in state of employment) must be maintained throughout employment, if the campus offers any Nursing degree.
Must be approved to teach one or more courses offered by the College.
Additional Requirements for the College of Nursing in Colorado:
Two (2) years full-time clinical experience or equivalent as a RN required.
Two (2) years full-time experience or equivalent teaching in an approved nursing education program at the level of the nursing education program required.
Knowledge of budget preparation and execution for the campus, in collaboration with the Director Academic Affairs.
Knowledge of faculty teaching needs and release time for administrative duties based on program needs.
School of Business
Doctoral degree in Business or closely related discipline required.
Five (5) years recent working experience in business or related field required.
Two (2) years experience in teaching, business administration, or administration at a college/university level.
Must be approved to teach one or more courses offered by the School.
Basic Qualifications
Master's degree in Humanities, Natural Science, or Liberal Arts is required. A master's degree in higher education is acceptable as long as the candidate has a strong liberal arts undergraduate degree and experience.
Minimum of two years teaching experience at the college/university level
Must be approved to teach in three or more courses offered by the school.
Additional Qualifications
Doctorate degree in Humanities or Natural Science, or Liberal Arts is preferred.
Prefer a minimum of two years recent experience in adult education.
Knowledge of the local market and community is strongly preferred.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
