1 Quick Apply Full-time 4 hours ago Full Job Description Southern Trust Insurance Company is currently seeking a Commercial Lines Field Underwriter for the Tennessee Area.
As a Commercial Lines Field Underwriter, you will be responsible for the growth and profitability of an underwriting territory.
This includes building relationships with agencies that lead to the profitable underwriting of middle market commercial accounts, putting your underwriting and marketing skills to work, along with your strong negotiating ability, to grow and maintain a book of multiline commercial lines accounts.
This is a remote position in Tennessee Area.
Responsibilities:
Review new business, renewals, endorsements, and quote requests to determine acceptability using established underwriting authority and company guidelines Price the risk and secure its proper class Evaluate insurance coverages Negotiate with agents and customer service representatives to develop a saleable product without adverse selection to the company Conduct regular agency visits in assigned territory to maintain strong relationships and market products and services Work closely with territory marketing representative to develop agency relationships and provide regular feedback on agency underwriting performance Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience Successful completion of or actively working toward the completion of AU, CIC or CPCU designation Minimum of 5 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, with risk evaluation skills and solid insurance contract knowledge Strong analytical thinking Strong communication and grammatical skills Ability to build relationships and possess strong negotiation skills Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to multi-task; and a willingness to accept challenges and take appropriate risks Ability to travel up to 25% -Regular travel to meet with agents is required Promote a positive and professional image and develop productive relationships Demonstrate an open-minded, collaborative work style Candidates looking to work remotely on a full-time basis will be considered and would require initial training, based on experience at the home office in Macon, Georgia.
Candidates who are residents of Tennessee are preferred but will consider candidates who live in close proximity to Nashville TN Compensation:
