Full Time Position In accordance with the Explore! Community School mission and values, the Dean of Academics is a master teacher with broad knowledge and deep experience in quality instruction and progressive classroom culture.
The Academic Dean will have extensive knowledge of Kindergarten through Second Grade instructional content having taught at least two grade levels in this grade band.
They will have demonstrated excellence in their own teaching with a TVAAS score of four or five or demonstrated excellence in growth and achievement in MAP or an equivalent assessment.
Previous instructional leadership is preferred.
This individual will excel in creating data driven instructional plans and will have a deep commitment to our Core Values.
As a member of the instructional leadership team, s/he will work closely with the principal to implement and contribute to the continual improvement of Explore's model of progressive teaching and learning.

Play an active role on the school's Instructional Leadership Team to support the goals and objectives of the school.
? Development and Coaching:
Provide professional development, coaching and modeling to support the implementation of our ELA and Math Curriculums.
? Support student growth when necessary by planning and leading small group instruction.
? Support teacher growth through active modeling and teaching in classrooms.
? Differentiation:
Support teachers to provide access to the core curriculum for a diverse array of learners, including but not limited to students with exceptionalities.
? Use of Data:
Support teachers with analysis of student data/work to identify student needs in order to adjust instructional practices and to develop targeted supports for students.
? Interventions:
Collaborate with the Director of Intervention to ensure that Tier I, II, and III interventions are aligned and designed for maximum impact.
? Support the school to ensure effective implementation of logistics necessary for running a well-functioning school, such as scheduling, test administration, learning exhibitions, and other events that impact teaching and learning.
? Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications ? Bachelor's required, Master's Degree preferred ? Possess an active TN Teaching Certification or current out of state equivalent ? Familiarity with Responsive Classroom/Management in the Active Classroom, Wit and Wisdom, and Achievement First preferred.
? Commitment to Explore! Community Schools mission, values, and educational model ? Demonstrated success in delivering quality instruction and developing a strong, positive classroom culture ? Possess skills with data analysis and intentionally responds to data in order to drive student results ? Strong content knowledge and knowledge of pedagogical approaches used in Project Based and/or experiential Learning ? Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues while holding them accountable for results ? Strong time management and organizational skills ? Eagerness to initiate new projects, take on additional responsibilities, and learn new skills ? Achieved a Level of Effectiveness of 4 or 5 in teacher evaluation or has previous leadership experience ? Additional skills that enhance staff and students' academic experience (e.
g.
multi-lingual, musician, carpentry, knock-knock jokes, etc.
