Summary:
We are looking to fill an opening for a Clinical Trials Associate 1. If you are interested in children's health and looking for ways to better prepare for graduate, nursing, or medical school, then consider becoming part of a collaborative clinical research team under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Jaser at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Division of Pediatric Psychology.
The Jaser lab is in the Department of Pediatrics and conducts behavioral research with children with type 1 diabetes and their families. We are starting a clinical trial evaluating a sleep-promoting intervention to improve the diabetes outcomes of adolescents with type 1 diabetes, while examining effects of sleep on cognitive function and brain structure. In our projects, we assess changes in glycemic measures, health behavior, and psychosocial outcomes. Other projects focusing on type 1 diabetes and psychosocial health may be started during the duration of this position. The Clinical Trials Associate position would offer exposure to a variety of clinical research in a pediatric population, with potential for involvement in conference presentations and/or manuscripts.

Responsibilities may include:

Recruiting and enrolling children, teens, and families into our studies

Collecting data through interviews with youth and parents

Assisting with the development and implementation of both new and ongoing research projects

Implementing randomized clinical trial protocols, including scheduling and tracking participant recruitment, retention, and follow-up completion

Conducting data entry/management/analysis for our studies

Assisting with writing and editing of manuscripts for publication
Research Opportunities offer:

Experience with clinical research studies with potential for presentations and publications

Experience working collaboratively with health care professionals from a range of disciplines

Direct experience with patients in a clinical research setting
Additional Requirements:

Experience working with children, teens, and families
Preferred Qualifications and Criteria:

Degree in Psychology or a Health-related field

Experience using statistical and survey software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, SPSS, REDCap)

Experience with human subjects research and pediatric patient populations

Two-year commitment with option of longer position
