Staff scientist

Job duties include designing and conducting biomedical research projects, collecting data, documenting findings, and complying with budgets, schedules, and regulations. The qualifications for this position include in-depth college education in the biomedical sciences up to PhD level. Applicant must have at least three to five years of post-doctorate experience to gain expertise in the biomedical field, while making major scientific contributions. Expertise and practical experience with setting up and operating research equipment and data acquisition software to conduct electrophysiological, behavioral, and/or pharmacological experiments is required. Having a record of multiple publications in scientific journals is a plus. Also, it is essential to have strong interpersonal, writing, and researching skills, and experience for working around hazardous materials. Applicant needs to demonstrate proven research and teamwork skills for this job.
Daily Operations
  • Design and conduct basic science and clinical research projects, including making hypothesis, testing them, and forming conclusions.
  • Conduct electrophysiology, behavioral, and other bench experiments, perform data analytics, compile and interpret data, and write manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Work independently and with multidisciplinary teams, interact with research trainees, multi-task, prioritize, and problem solve.
  • Prepare, submit and track protocols, amendments, and related documents relevant to appropriate IRB, AICUC and IBC, and other oversight groups
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to gather and analyze biostatistical data and generate reports.
  • Ability to implement behavioral and/or electrophysiological techniques with minimal supervision.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to function well independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing, including the ability to analyze and extract data from conversations and documents for research projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of standard software applications, databases, spreadsheets required.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students

Required Education and Experience
  • Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Biophysics, Biochemistry or Cellular physiology or Biomedical sciences with at least 3 years of postdoctoral research experience in Cellular, Molecular, Electrophysiology, and/or Immunology.
  • Doctor's Degree (PhD) in Genetics, Biochemistry or Bioinformatics or Biomedical sciences or related disciplines with at least 3 years of postdoctoral laboratory research experience in Genomics, Cancer Biology, and/or Immunology, and Microbiology

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
