Job Description
The Packaging Engineer - Manufacturing will work on-site at one of our customer locations and will work in a diverse group of Program Managers, Graphic Designers, Package Engineers and Lab Technicians under the leadership of the Regional Engineering. The Packaging Engineer will create custom and innovative packaging design concepts for a variety of clients and industries ranging from children s toys to medical devices. These engineered solutions will meet our customers packaging requirements and solve the packaging manufacturing challenges faced by Veritiv suppliers. Suggestions of a better packaging solution are expected along with delivering the original solution requested. He/she will work independently, manage multiple projects of various complexities and will utilize available resources including an ISTA certified test facility. All of the PE's efforts are targeted to support Veritiv sales professional team.
Job Responsibilities
Generate high quality ideas, prototype, evaluate and refine.
Review packaging design, manufacturing and materials to reduce the total cost of packaging.
Prepare, develop proposals and present to the client with a comprehensive action plan.
Conduct on-site packaging audits, specification reviews, lab testing and trials of packaging concepts.
Incorporate information on customer s current practices at packaging sites and distribution centers
Responsible for the organization, storage and distribution for all design specifications, revision control, assembly instructions and manufacturing releases files
Collaborates with internal and external customer as well as other functions of Veritiv Engineered Solutions team in the development or testing of engineered solutions
Stays current with Artios CAD, CAPE, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and other software updates, industry standards and technology developments (continuing education, trade shows, conferences, etc.)
Calibrates and ensures that the Kongsberg cutting table is working well and makes full utilization of the cutting tables capability as well as the drop test system
Knowledgeable in corrugated, folding carton, foam and clear fold manufacturing capabilities and practices. Understand what and how packaging components will be printed, die cut, stripped, glued and assembled using automated equipment. Has a good understanding of corrugated material including liners and mediums and board various board combinations
Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
Required Skills
Experience using 2D software (Artios CAD, CAPE or Tops, etc).
Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills
Creative/Innovative
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and technically challenging assignments simultaneously
Strong communication and technical writing skills are required with ability to discuss technical issues in business environment
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business priorities and assignments
Required Experience
1-2 plus years experience in Packaging Design and Development
BS in Engineering, Packaging Science or a similar discipline. Advanced degree is a plus.
Experience using 2D software (Artios CAD, CAPE or Tops, etc). Experience with Adobe CS suite for graphic interaction is preferred. 3D modeling and presentation skills are a plus.
Has some experience with 3D software (Solidworks or Pro-E)
Experience working with point-of-purchase, corrugated, folding carton, foams and cushioning products. Knowledge of production processes, machine limitations and production standards are required

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
