Assesses nutrition status of patients at nutrition risk. Develops, implements and evaluates outcomes of nutrition care plan for patients utilizing oral, enteral, and parenteral regimens. Monitors progress daily and initiates changes in care plans as required. Participates in the training of dietetic interns and other health care professionals. Participates in collaborative clinical nutrition research and conducts independent research in practice area. Coordinates an area of specialty nutrition practice or service. Provides clinical supervision of staff working in assigned practice area and of assigned dietitians.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Initiates nutrition assessment and nutrition care plans utilizing extensive knowledge and expertise and the Nutrition Care Process for patients with complex medical conditions, including critically ill patients and those on enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support.
Collects data, including data from physical exam, and compares to evidence-based criteria, relevant norms and standards.
Determines comparative standards and patients' nutrient requirements.
Assesses nutrition status, identifies nutrition problems, and formulates a comprehensive care plan according to patient needs including age, cognitive, social and physical developmental stage, culture, severity of diseases, conditions of impairment or disability, physical signs of malnutrition, fluid and electrolyte needs, drug/nutrient, drug/drug and or nutrient/nutrient interactions.
Develops nutrition prescription.
Determines nutrition goals and recommends comprehensive nutrition interventions to resolve or improve nutrition problems and achieve goals, including but not limited to: -Fluid, electrolyte and glucose management -Management of pharmacotherapy in relation to drug-nutrient interactions -Supplements, enteral and parenteral formulas -Equipment needed to deliver nutrition formulas -Adaptive feeding devices and techniques -Transitional feeding plans and post-discharge nutrition plans -Health promotion.
Utilizes practice guidelines and/or as applicable, care paths, protocols, etc
Monitors nutrition progress and reassesses nutrition status of patients/clients with complex medical conditions.
Monitors implementation of nutrition care plan.
Collects needed data, including data from physical exam and follow up phone calls.
Evaluates patient's nutrition intake (nutrition and diet history)/lifestyle/medical condition).
Identifies outcome indicators and evaluates achievement of goals and outcomes.
Reassesses nutrition status and adjusts nutrition prescription and goals as indicated.
Recommends changes in interventions to meet nutrition care plan and goals.
Documents as designated in practice guidelines, departmental/facility guidelines, and/or as applicable, care paths, protocol, etc.
Nutrition assessment within established intervention timelines
Draft,verbal and telephone orders according to established policies and guidelines
Follow-up documentation within established intervention timelines
Education of patient and/or caregiver
Discharge planning on appropriate forms such as discharge, transfer, referral.

Collaborates with health care team members to provides nutrition counseling and education and nutrition case management prior to discharge or in outpatient setting with patient, family or care provider, utilizing nutrition practice guidelines.

Develops realistic action plan with patient and/or caregiver to achieve goals and priorities.
Individualizes education according to patient's needs including age, development stage, culture, severity of disease, conditions of impairment or disability
Uses nutrition counseling techniques to promote and facilitate behavior changes.
Identifies barriers to learning and obstacles to adherence.
Facilitates problem-solving by patient and/or caregiver to overcome barriers to learning and obstacles to adherence.
Provides follow-up nutrition education and counseling to promote and facilitate behavior change.
Addresses reimbursement questions and issues from patients, caregivers, physicians, and health care team.
Participates as a key resource in physician-directed outpatient clinics, including clinics for home TPN, short bowel, chronic kidney disease, and other malnourished patients.
Trains dietetic interns by planning, implementing, supervising and evaluating clinical experiences and classes.
Participates in development of area-specific learning experiences.
Communicates progress of interns to internship staff.
Evaluates interns using guidelines provided by internship staff.
Completes oral and written evaluations with interns within 14 days (or 10 working days) of rotation completion.
Participates in collaborative clinical nutrition research and conducts independent nutrition outcomes or investigational research in area of practice.
Develops research questions, in collaboration with health care team members.
Participates in the development of collaborative research proposals.
Develops independent or collaborative research proposals, including outcomes research projects.
Conducts research according to established protocols and within established timelines.
Communicates with funding agencies, IRB, GCRC and other entities as required.
Monitors quality assurance of clinical research protocols through close surveillance.
Participates in data collection and analysis.
Participates in research meetings and seminars of the health care team.
Participates in preparation of abstracts, reports, and manuscripts.
Publishes and presents results of outcomes projects.
Serves as clinical nutrition research resource for peers and dietetic interns.

Develops and implements an action plan to achieve established goals; develops training materials, resources and tools to achieve goals.
Initiates, leads, and participates in activities, including regular audits of nutrition care, that evaluate and improve systems for quality patient care, working collaboratively with other healthcare team members.
Leads interdisciplinary projects, operating from an in-depth understanding of the total situation to resolve complex issues.
Prepares reports and shares summary data with Director, committees, staff and healthcare team.
Provides back up coverage for Director as needed.
Provides clinical supervision of staff working in assigned practice area and of assigned dietitians.

Qualifications:
Job requires Masters and 8 years of experience or the equivalent.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
Registered Dietitian Job: Dietitian/NutritionEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
