Our fast paced ASC is committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.
JOB SUMMARY The Scope Processing Technician cares for and maintains all GI Scopes.
Hours are Monday through Wednesday and Friday 8am to 3:
30pm.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required Computer skills, required Experience preferred Ability to prepare reports and keep records.
Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians Must have the ability to help transport patients after their procedures via wheelchair Nashville Gastroenterology and Hepatology is currently hiring for an experienced GI scope processing and transportation tech for our 3-suite endoscopy center.
Monday through Wednesday and Friday.
NO CALL, NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS.
We frequently provide catered breakfast or lunch on most days for our amazing staff.
POSITION
Summary:
An Scope Processing Technician performs technical responsibilities relative to treatment and care of the Endoscopy patient with the instrumentation utilized in that treatment.
Monitors PAR levels of all instrumentation and supplies.
The Scope Processing Technician prepares, assembles, and organizes the work environment, equipment and supplies necessary to perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures.
Participates in staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
Works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
The focus of an Scope Processing Technician is to be accountable for the delivery of safe, and quality patient care Maintain an adequate inventory of linens and supplies for the unit, to include par levels of supplies within endoscopy procedure rooms Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed Knowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.
e patient body fluids, disinfectant chemicals) Disinfect carts and equipment between patients and maintain standards to provide a safe, clean, and orderly environment Handle equipment appropriately and in a manner to prevent damage Provide and maintain a safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with all regulatory requirements and/or guidelines These requirements/guidelines include but are not limited to AAAHC standards, Medicare and state specific guidelines, OSHA, HIPPA, Federal Fraud and Abuse Laws Comply with ethical, professional, and legal standards inherent in-patient care and professional conduct Set up and assist physician with procedures Ensure that all the equipment is correct for the procedure and in good working order Safely deliver endoscopes to and from the procedure room Collect, label, and send specimens with the correct paperwork out of the procedure room Document thoroughly, accurately, and appropriately for each procedure Scope Cleaning Handle all scopes in and out of scope washers for proper disinfection Manually leak test, brush, and clean endoscopes Monitor and record chemical concentrations per policy to ensure high level disinfection of equipment is complete Maintain documentation of reprocessing safety checks to include all scope repairs, disinfectant, and filter change records Notify supervisor of any damage found while processing the scopes Patient Admission Accurately obtain vital signs as indicated and document on chart Escort patient/families through and assist in checking in of patients as scheduled or needed Assist in data collection to identify the patients needs, problems, concerns, or human responses Adopt the practice's culture of respect, integrity and accountability that contribute to an internal environment of teamwork and promote a positive brand image to our external customers Incorporate a leadership mindset to your role Comply with practice's procedures, policies, and regulations relevant to your role Successfully completes all DLHS training requirements (i.

Assists in the cleaning and turnover of the procedure room between cases.

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
High School graduate or equivalent Scope processing certification is preferred.
This certification must be obtained within two years of hire.
Company will assist in this process.
Must possess knowledge of acceptable parameters of pulse oximetry and blood pressures, blood borne pathogens and aseptic techniques.
BLS certification required.
Must have sufficient strength to move carts, and assist patients while walking and transport patients via wheelchair.

Knowledge of the use and handling of instruments, endoscopic equipment; scope cleaning, standard precautions and terminal cleaning of surgical instruments and scope cleaning rooms.

Scope Reprocessing certification upon hire or obtained within 2 years.
Scope room staff who were employed as Scope Technicians prior to the 1/1/2017 TN law are not required to have certification.
DLHS requires certification as part of ongoing employment and certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Staff must work under a certified scope reprocessor/grandfathered scope room staff until certification is achieved.
All staff working in the scope room must maintain 6 Sterile Processing IAHCSMM Specific CEUs annually.
Travel:
DLHS Endo Techs are required to float/travel to all DLHS locations as needed/required.
Incumbent must be capable & able to travel and have reliable transportation.
