Electrical Controls Engineer I - Located in Grafton, ND

Highlights of your role


  • Provide electrical support for Capital and R&M Projects
  • Investigate projects to understand the scope, working closely with Project Managers or Equipment Acquisition/Designers
  • Estimate costs for electrical portions of projects for budgeting purposes
  • Work with suppliers to specify and select electrical components, design electrical controls, and create drawings and bills of materials
  • Understand the scope of Machine Control Design projects
  • Work closely with suppliers to research and specify electrical components
  • Assist the Equipment Acquisition/Designer with machine concepts to determine proper control schemes for functionality, flexibility and cost
  • Design control systems, use drawings to detail control panels, electrical schematics and control diagrams
  • Develop bills of materials and assemble work order packages to be used by maintenance and electrical staff
  • Assist with PLC Programming to develop the sequence of operation for equipment
  • Develop and write functional program code to control equipment
  • Write equipment description of operation for operator's manuals
  • Attend and actively participate in department meetings, trainings, or events
  • Provide technical support of electrical controls and programming related issues
  • Keep project status updated in our maintenance management software
  • Participate in miscellaneous project teams
  • Implement data transferring to seamlessly transfer information electronically from production control software to production equipment to eliminate errors
  • Collect, log, and report any equipment production performance errors or downtime for the measurement of the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)

You're a good fit if you have
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of electrical controls design/acquisition experience
  • 1-3 years of PLC programming or motion control programming experience
