AIG is seeking a Senior Tax Analyst for its State and Local Income Tax department in our Nashville, TN office. The right individual will report to the Manager in Nashville and ultimately in to the Associate Director in New York with the primary responsibility of supporting the state and local income tax compliance process in Nashville.
Preparation and review of state tax returns including Unitary/Combined tax returns
Preparation and review of non-income tax state returns (i.e. Ohio CAT, NYC Commercial Rent)
Preparation and review of quarterly estimates and extensions
Management of the state tax compliance calendar
State tax notices resolution including correspondence with state and local governments and ensure Tax Notices Log is properly maintained
Refund tracking and analysis including correspondence with state and local governments in order to ensure that the Company has received all refunds due
Continue to develop process enhancements for compliance and other related functions
Identify and regularly communicate status of internal due dates with direct reports
Assist with appropriate technical training for staff
Assist manager with the management of resources for cross function support during non-peak and peak compliance season including cross-training; Cross function support to be provided to and received from the following tax areas already established in Nashville:
Sales and Use Tax
Premium Tax
Personal Property Tax
As this role become more refined, other related functions may fall into the responsibility of this position
B.A./B.S. degree is required
Prior public accounting or large private experience is preferred
CPA or advanced degree is a plus
5 or more years of proven tax experience with State and Local income tax knowledge as well as tax return review experience
Existing knowledge of CorpTax a plus
Working knowledge of tax accounting a plus
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure, maintaining a strong attention to detail, prioritizing work within tight deadlines
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential
