Chief Engineer-General Jackson Showboat.
Responsibilities include: Starts up and operates main generation and propulsion plants. Operates and maintains all related mechanical and electrical equipment in order to minimize and possibly prevent downtime of equipment. Secures vessel after termination of daily activities. Manages the fueling of vessel, as per United States Coast Guard regulations. Supervises the safe and proper operation of the river boats according to the law and promotes adherence to laws and regulations of the United States Coast Guard, hotel, and the boat manufacturer.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience (8,760 hours) as an Oiler, and 1 year (2920 hours) experience as an assistant Engineer required.
Valid Chief Engineer of Motor Vessel License required.
Valid and Current United States Coast Guard License issued by the United States Merchant Marine Office Program, and valid drivers license required.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Managing Vessel Operations
Starts up and operates main generation and propulsion plants.
Operates and maintains all related mechanical and electrical equipment in order to minimize and possibly prevent downtime of equipment.
Assigns duties and repair activities to subordinates.
Executes duties of the Senior Chief Engineer in his absence.
Secures vessel after termination of daily activities.
Maintains engine room logbook, as required by United States Coast Guard regulations.
Maintaining the Safety and Security of Vessel Operations
Checks for safety hazards and violations.
Promotes adherence to all United States Coast Guard laws and regulations.
Inspects all areas of the vessel daily.
Manages the fueling of vessel, as per United States Coast Guard regulations.
Maintains operation in order to promote adherence to all laws and regulations relating to pollution of any kind which is required by the United States Coast Guard and all other legal authorities.
Performs the role of "safety sensitive" crew member, subject to U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug screening as required by the United States Coast Guard.
Supervises the safe and proper operation of the river boats according to the law and promotes adherence to laws and regulations of the United States Coast Guard, hotel, and the boat manufacturer.
Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities
Interviews, selects and trains employees.
Appraises employee's productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status.
Provides for the safety and security of the employees or the property.
Monitors employee attendance and records absences/tardiness.
Helps direct supervisors to achieve their own development goals.
Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
