The Software Engineer 2 is functionally competent and working toward functional expertise in the field of software engineering as it relates to the business objectives of Asurion. The Software Engineer 2 will design, code, test, and debug applications that meet system standards and functional requirements in various software languages. The position will assist in code reviews and with the activities for approved Projects, system improvements, and ad-hoc or emergency requests.

_Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions_
Develops effective, maintainable code in a timely fashion
Follows established coding standards and techniques
Develops automated unit test cases to validate defect-free code
Conducts code reviews with peers and management
Works with BAs and Integration Testing team to ensure quality code that meets the functional requirements
Involved in integrating on-shore and off-shore code
Maintains proficiency in the application and use of systems, tools, and processes within the department's scope
Maintains proficiency in the business processes that drive the applications within the department's scope
Maintains a working knowledge of Asurion's applications and system integration.
Assists with the compilation of status notifications for business stakeholders and Client Relations.
Ensures code complies with security policies and guidelines
_Qualifications_
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field required
2 or more years of software development experience required
1 or more years of development experience using TIBCO software preferred
Specific knowledge/experience in most of the following:
o Application Design
o Analysis
o Java
o .NET, C#, HTML, XML, Web Services, HTTP, SOAP, REST, SQL and DBMS (e,g SQL Server, Oracle)
o Strong OOD / OOP knowledge
o Multithreaded Web Application experience
o Creation of Physical and Logical design documents
o Developing applications servicing large transactional system utilizing SQL Server and/or other equivalent large scale DBMS (e.g Oracle)
o Knowledge and experience with object-oriented design and implementation
