You will serve as Secretary (OA) and a personal assistant to assigned VISN Executive Leadership Team (ELT) member providing a wide range of administrative support. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Makes travel arrangements, schedules for visits, and reservations for lodging, transportation, and related matters. Receives visitors and telephone calls. Arranges conferences for the VISN as required by Program Managers. Maintains subject matter files, reports, and records for the program areas. Acquires equipment and services using procedures to procure, authorize, control, and justify these purchases. Addresses requests for appointments with the supervisor and/or program staff; checks the availability; confirms the appointment and if necessary reschedules the appointments. Determines the nature of the requests and directs to the appropriate staff or personally provides the information when it is routine or procedural matters of the office. Deciding the appropriate data to be requested including supplementary and alternate information not identified in the initial request. May be required to attend such meetings and record the minutes, which will later be summarized and distributed. Verify unusual and unique requests with program manager prior to or during the process of developing responses. Supports the program managers with action items by analyzing and determining the appropriate way to address each one. Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties list below represent the full performance level of GS-08. At the GS-07 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-08. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience at the GS-07 level:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Providing general office supply and equipment support services such as obtaining standard office supplies and services, answering questions concerning policies and procedures related to support/office services; Maintaining subject matter files, reports, and records for the program area; Preparing and/or develops a variety of materials including but limited to formal letters, memoranda, and reports; Performing a variety of clerical and administrative support tacks (e.g., Making travel arrangements for conferences, timekeeping duties; and organizing the flow of clerical processes within the office. Specialized Experience at the GS-08 level:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Making travel arrangements, schedules for visits, and reservations for lodging, transportation, and related matters; Developing and maintaining various automated databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of office activities and operations; Developing work processes and systems for tracking and controlling a wide variety of correspondence requiring action or follow-up; Determining the nature of the requests and directs to the appropriate staff or personally provides the information when it is routine or procedural matters of the office. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
